Chapter 4 - Patience because everything passes
We start the new chapter with you upgraded. Now you ask questions, look for answers, check sources of information and look for other better questions. During this time you know and understand if you are positive, neutral or negative and life delights and delights you while the threshold between one life and another is too small to take into account. The new chapter is about patience and what it can offer you. First of all, inner peace and tranquility. You know that everything changes on earth and nothing lasts, so if you have enough patience, evil will become good and good will be enjoyed much more intensely when it appears. You will treat it not as something normal but as something special. However, having patience is not something easy to achieve. In a book dear to me, I read that patience means mastering the seven feelings: love, hate, joy, anxiety, suffering and fear. This actually means feeling each one, understanding each one, understanding yourself in relation to each one, seeing in which direction your instinct asks you to take it depending on each one and still savoring each step of the process. You can only do this if you accept it. It looks good but it is very hard to achieve.
Patience must be built day by day in a systematic way. You must give yourself a period of time in which you develop patience. I will give you some practical examples but I encourage you to develop what type of exercise you think suits you and apply it. Only through repetition and perseverance will you achieve the results, that are, a rational and patient person. Separately without patience you cannot achieve clarity in your thoughts. Without patience you will ask a few obvious questions and then you will already be looking for answers while you have not finished the stage of asking. About answers , you will obtain only two answers and you will conclude. Erroneous conclusions from impatience. When analyzing positive and negative, you will not check the essence but superficially and the conclusions will be superficial. As I said before, I can teach you to be a rational person but I cannot change a person who does not want to be changed or does not make an effort for it.
Let's go back to the exercises that I recommend. Count in your mind to one thousand. While you say the number, imagine that the number is poured into liquid incandescent metal and when you say it, as if it were hit with a hammer, sparks will come out.
The second exercise is the one with letters. Choose a letter and write the same letter on a sheet of paper (like when you were learning to write). Write the whole page.
A more pleasant exercise - take a book and check if the page numbering is correct.
The allotted time should not exceed an hour and the activity, although boring, should be enjoyable. The exercise in order to provide results must be done daily.
Everything passes in this world is the second part of this lesson and requirement. Nothing stays the same. The law of the world is the law of movement and you can find your balance as a fixed point in motion. For this you need an effort and continuous work to be in a speed equal to the speed of the changes in the world. The implications are multiple and some of them wonderful. To understand why I say this, you can live 300 years regenerating yourself in the same rhythm as aging. Perhaps the most important effect of patience in change and acceptance is inner peace. Knowing that you have patience you become perseverant. You don't mind being wrong 100 times because if you have enough patience sooner or later you will still be right. That's why perseverance is linked with heavy chains to patience. Perseverance is one of the most important weapons of your ensemble as a human being. Perseverance is actually linked to your choice and the respect you have for your decision. If you have decided something, you respect your word no matter how long it takes or how many times you try. But if you break your word, it means that you have a wrong reasoning and you have to go back to the initial decision to check it. Something you did not agree with was there.
Perseverance is actually a continuous struggle. Do not give in, do not stop, move forward. I always smile when I see motivational videos with messages: do not stop! move forward no matter what! only this way you will reach success! In theory is good, in practice is not. Moving only forward all the time excludes the rational man. I tell you to move forward on the road but from time to time stop. Stand by the road and look back where you started. Look how far you have come. Look ahead to where you want to go. Think about the road as more beautiful than the destination, think that you will encounter beautiful or ugly things, that you will fall and get up and continue. I ask you to look back so that you always know who you are. It is a location in space that you must do from time to time. To rediscover yourself more precisely, to see what you were and what you have become, how you have become and to accept yourself. You have changed, you have reinvented yourself so you start over and go in the direction you have established. As advice, change comes by itself but change that comes from your decision is much better.
Patience means acceptance. Apart from breathing, there is nothing urgent. So just breathe and the rest of the thoughts that "must" be done wait in separate boxes. You can take them out one by one, analyze them and put them back in the box that is on the shelf of your mind. Do not open several boxes at the same time. Take them separately, close the box and move on to the next one. Determine when you have closed the box and the thought or idea should not appear again until your subsequent decision. If two thoughts appear at the same time then see why they are not in the box. It does not matter what kind of thought are. What matters is that are not in the box. Your focus should be only on one thought and one box. If it is divided then you cannot solve anything and each thought does what it wants and appears when it wants. If you want order, close the boxes. For this you need patience and time. You need perseverance because the effects are very little or not visible even though they are present. It will take days, weeks, months maybe years until you achieve mental order. But this is the path you have chosen and the result is very precious for you. It is an upgrade of you. That's why the road is long and difficult and few choose to walk it.
Point of view
The use of patience is necessary for the development of focus, attention. Without attention you can only achieve very little and in very small steps. Fortunately, any exercise you do develops your focus the more you increase the duration of the exercise. Let me take as an example the exercise of counting to a thousand – it lasts about an hour. An hour in which you will guide your thoughts towards a target chosen by you and reject other thoughts. It is a process that belongs entirely to you, planned, thought and executed, and the collection of the results is only yours. You can also extend the specificity of the exercise to other activities that are required of you. Although it is no longer your planning, the execution and the results remain. The result actually means organizing your mind. Instead of running after one thought then changing direction to another and so on, you will stay focused on a thought established by you. Only by constantly running after multiple targets can you create chaos. You, on the other hand, will have order, you will analyze each idea separately and you will compare choices in decisions that become more and more rational with each effort.
Everything is transient, your perception will not agree with this. It will not agree because it sees solid, organized things that last. I agree, they last. But they last through change and adaptation. In some cases, the change occurs very quickly and in other cases, there is a constant, slight change, almost imperceptible. Maybe you have visited cities, fortresses or other such buildings. Have you ever wondered what they looked like when they were at the height of their existence? How strong, how durable they seemed? Do you think the people who lived in those times thought that in a few hundred years their fortress would only have a few walls left? Maybe no one would even live there anymore? Do they look like you now? How do you view the city you live in, or the country as something permanent? I don't know how old our planet is, maybe 4, maybe 6 billion years, maybe even more. Of its history, we humans only have knowledge of the last thousand years and a few things a little earlier. Human traces on Earth appear to be a few million years old. Compared to what we know in percentages, I think we are around 0.01% of all human planetary history. So we don't know 99.99% of our history and yet we promote that we are an evolved race. We are not. And the fact that we don't know 99.99% of our history is argued by the fact that everything changes and nothing stays the same. This example should make us think about how small we are in this course of time. It is a gift and a curse to realize this. Like any complete thing in this world, good and evil integrate to achieve this completeness. With each step , you can think that if it's hard for you now, it means it will be good. That would actually be the positive attitude with which you should always be anchored. The positive attitude that is attached to hope and patience. Hope should never be extinguished. In fact, it should never be allowed to extinguish. It's a nice expression: we calculated and we have a 1% chance of succeeding. And there are some good chances. (Of course, it doesn't matter that there is a 99% chance of failure)
During all the changes and the fickleness, to maintain hope and to look only at the glass half full, to see only what happens if you succeed becomes a way of being yourself. An optimistic and hopeful way. You cannot control what you receive in life. You can only control your attitude towards what you receive and what you do with what you receive. One of the things that is not fleeting is your attitude. You can remain constantly positive and optimistic. This in itself is a balance in motion. You have to admit that you are looking for it. You are looking for the things that do not change and the proof of this are your habits. You try to protect yourself from change and maintain distinct characteristics through this. But everything changes and habits must also be changed because they lose their importance, they lose their purpose. This is the big mistake that most people make. They try to own things that do not change created from things that change. All the things you do every day and that you think are habits that define you are actually attempts to forcefully maintain something that has no way of lasting over time. In reality, what you try to practice rationally you hope subconsciously that you will acquire on a mental level. These habits must give you order and mental peace. That is their purpose. Let's take an example, maybe not the best one. Sleep. You don't sleep at night because you like to sleep, but you sleep to wake up rested and charged. If there was a charger like for a phone that could fill you with energy in an hour, then you probably wouldn't be interested in sleeping anymore. The body needs sleep in different proportions depending on age, strength, physical condition and others. However, you don't need sleep every day, you need sleep when you are tired, no matter what time of day or night it happens. The manipulation that you have suffered since you were very young refers to time. What time is it? – bedtime or mealtime or walk time. Please imagine what it would be like if you didn't have one. Nowhere, not on your phone, not on your laptop or on the TV. You would go back to the day and night system. You know that day ends when the sun sets and day begins when it rises. You would arrange to meet a friend when the sun is high in the sky or when it sets in the evening instead of at x o'clock. You would no longer have mealtimes and bedtimes. You would eat when you are hungry and go to bed when you are sleepy. Think about how your life would change if you didn't have access to a watch. Because access is actually the problem. I will always argue that the wearable watch was the worst and most manipulative invention of man. It put an obstacle in man's thoughts from what I want to do or what I need to do to what I have to do. It is no coincidence that in every journey of self-knowledge, the abandonment of the instruments that show the clock is required.
Let's get back to the things that do not pass. The feelings or attitudes chosen. These are actually the things that define you and what matters in the great change. It is not habits that define you but that shackle you. Instead, attitude gives you direction and freedom. You want to be brave - choose to be brave and maintain your decision no matter what happens and no matter how you were before. Choose the model you want to follow not from the world around you but from your mind. Choose how you want to be and that is how it will be if you respect your decision. We are the result of our imaginations so if you make your own design then that is what you can be. After choosing what you want to be, how you want to be, then you can do the training to become what you have established. In time, with patience, you will succeed because things are constantly changing and you choose to change by your decision.
